eBay Live! 2007 in Boston

By Steve Nye, eBay Certified Consultant

It's that time of year again!

The only time of year when we halt our listings to take a break, something we don’t even do for family vacations. But for this? Yes. And why? One thing – to become more successful selling on eBay.

Okay, that and you just want a justifiable excuse to get out of town and go have some fun. I’m in the same boat, and am looking forward to a Sox game against the Rockies.

But, in case you get sidetracked amidst all the fun in Beantown, I’m going to highlight a few things you won’t want to miss during your weekend at eBay Live!

Mad Hatter" Meet & Greet

Are you getting in early on Wednesday night? Join other eBay sellers (everyone is invited) to the “Mad Hatter” Meet and Greet on Wednesday, June 13, at 7 pm at Ned Devine's Paris Hall in Faneuil Hall (aka Quincy Marketplace). The theme is a Mad Hatter Tea Party, and the person with the best hat wins a prize. For more information, go to http://forums.ebay.com/db1/thread.jspa?threadID=2000372722.

eBay Live! Bookstore

The eBay Live! Book Store is a great place to relax and browse a wide selection of books ranging from running your own business to blogging and even, you guessed it – research! If you attend seminars and presentations, don’t forget to check out the bookstore for their latest book. You will also run into many of the authors themselves who are holding book signings at the bookstore and various locations.

Julia Wilkinson, author of "The eBay Price Guide,""eBay Top 100 Simplified Tips & Tricks" (Wiley, 2004-6); as well as "What $ells on eBay for What," will be at the HammerTap booth (#933) for a book signing on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Skip McGrath, an eBay expert and Celebrated eBay Education Specialist, will also make special appearances at the HammerTap booth on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 2 to 3 p.m., on Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Stop by any one of these times to meet Skip!

Seminars and Presentations

With so many classes and so many learning opportunities, how do you pick which will be the most effective use of your time? I’ve taken the time to highlight a few you may not want to miss!

Using Certified Providers to Grow Your Business

With so many third-party solutions available, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be selling at the top of your game. Join a panel of executives from eBay and Certified Providers on Thursday at 10 a.m. in room 204A to find out the perfect solutions to fit your business needs.

Product Sourcing: Finding Products Buyers Want

Come listen to the top product sourcing companies on Thursday at 3 p.m. in room 258A and learn how you can find the most successful and competitive products to sell on eBay. Presented by Worldwide Brands, Doba, and WhatDoISell, this seminar will be the best education all weekend if you are looking for ways to build your inventory.

Using Research to Uncover New Products that Buyers Want

If you want to hear one of the leading experts in eBay market research and product sourcing, don't miss Jen Cano of HammerTap and Robin Cowie of Worldwide Brands on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in room 252A.

In their presentation, Jen and Robin will show you how to remove the guesswork and use research to build a successful and profitable inventory.

Jen and Robin just recently finished writing a book titled eBay Performance! Selling Success with Market Research and Product Sourcing, which is the first book of its kind, combining solid product sourcing strategies upon the foundation of market research. Pick up a copy at the eBay Live! Bookstore and swing by the booth for Jen to sign it for you!

The Closing Gala

Don’t forget the biggest night of the whole show where you can dine, dance, and groove to the sounds of R&B legends Kool & The Gang from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Come hungry, cause there is plenty of food and fun for everyone. Everyone? Yes, for all 10,000 of us!

Other Fun things in BeanTown

I’ve never been to Boston before, so I am looking forward to seeing some of the sights and eating some of the local cuisine. Here are a couple fun things I’ve found that you may also enjoy.

The Freedom Trail

According to their website, the Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile red-brick walking trail that leads you to 16 nationally significant historic sites, every one an authentic American treasure. Preserved and dedicated by the citizens of Boston in 1958, when the wrecking ball threatened, the Freedom Trail today is a unique collection of museums, churches, meeting houses, burying grounds, parks, a ship, and historic markers that tell the story of the American Revolution and beyond.

You can find more information at http://www.thefreedomtrail.org.

Legal Sea Foods

This is the seafood restaurant of restaurants. I have heard of this place and I haven’t even been to Boston. Reasonably priced and supposedly having the best seafood in town, Legal Sea Foods has eight locations in the Boston area! So, really there is no excuse why you shouldn’t check it out and make a reservation!
