What’s Hot: Collectible WWII Military-Issue Soap

Hello eBay Sellers, I’m HammerTap’s Jen Cano with a What’s Hot on eBay newsflash.

Finding out how to sell unique items can sometimes be tricky. The secret lies in uncovering buyer habits for items that are a close match. I used HammerTap to figure out how to list a rare, unopened bar of military-issue soap from World War II. I used data from last month, as well as from a year ago to increase the number of auctions I based my decisions on. Here’s what I found.

The optimal way to list this item to get the best price is to list it as a Regular auction, with buy it now, including a gallery picture, ending it on a Friday, and running it for 7 days.

What’s Hot: Digital Camera Remotes

Hello eBay Sellers, I’m HammerTap’s Jen Cano with a What’s Hot on eBay newsflash.

eBay has given remote controls for digital cameras a Super Hot rating. But which remotes are the hottest? I’ve used HammerTap to find out.

On average these remotes sell about 59% of the time. But, with just a few small tweaks, you can make your remote control auctions unbeatable! Listings with the word “wireless” in the title sold 78% of time. Then, close that listing on a Friday to jump your chances up to 90%. But, if it’s more money you’re after, close on a Monday and make nearly twice as much as on Fridays.

Use HammerTap to find out the best words to use in your auction title or which day to close your listings.

What’s Hot for Valentine’s

Hello eBay Sellers, I’m HammerTap’s Jen Cano with a What’s Hot on eBay newsflash.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, don’t you wish you could peak into the future to see what buyers are going to want the most over the coming month? I used HammerTap to do just that.

My search into hot Valentine’s products began with Godiva chocolate. I looked at a 30-day snapshot from mid January to mid February of last year to check out what’s likely to happen in the market from now until Valentines this year. Here’s what I found.

Last year, 90% of Godiva chocolates sold, with 97% of sellers making a sale. Looks pretty good for Godiva chocolate lovers!

Use HammerTap to anticipate what will sell and for how much over the coming month!

What’s Hot: Luggage

Hello eBay Sellers, I’m HammerTap’s Jen Cano with a What’s Hot on eBay newsflash.

We all know that spelling variations and misspellings can affect an auction’s performance. I took a look at luggage, using HammerTap research software, to see how misspellings effected some of the hottest brands.

I began with Hartmann. Surprisingly, the misspelling for Hartman (one n instead of two) sold twice as often as auctions with the correct spelling. The misspelling for Louis Vuitton, however, underperformed by about $200 per auction. The biggest controversy was that misspelled Halliburton auctions had a higher success rate, but a much lower selling price.

Use HammerTap to analyze which spelling of your brands will work best for you!
